Travelling has become one of the most popular activities amongst older people. The young at heart want to travel actively and use their time wisely. Language holidays are becoming more and more of a trend amongst seniors. Because of this, the Piccola Universita Italiana has put together a new kind of language course, „Active Silver „ especially for seniors.

These exclusive new language courses take 2 weeks but can be extended individually. The Italian lessons in small groups at the language school are made up of 3 lesson units a day at 55 minutes each. Students of the same level are in groups together. There is an interesting programme with excursions in Calabria and to Sicily, plus culinary trips to one of the many Osterias around Tropea, as well as wine tasting, all enabling authentic insight into the Italian culture of Calabria.

The language school's concept is to teach you to speak Italian and then to encourage you to use it as an active part of your holiday here.

Only university graduates who are native speakers of Italian teach at our school. The didactic teaching material, such as written materials and film presentations plus historical tours of the old town make your Italian lessons colourful and diversified.

The Italian language school is in the heart of the old town of Tropea and is only about 150m away, as the crow flies, from the crystal clear sea. The comfortable apartments in which our students are accommodated, are very close to the school. The ambience at the Piccola Universita Italiana is familiar and welcoming, we want all our language students to feel comfortable and understood here, regardless of age. Our secretarial staff at the language school are friendly English speakers who are happy to be of assistance to our language students.

Italian language courses for seniors, our so called „Active Silver" courses, are on offer in November and February and March.Tthe climate in winter is particularly pleasant in Calabria. For groups of seniors we would also be happy to organise separate starting dates at your request.
