What should I put in my suitcase for my language holiday in Italy?

Have I got everything I need? Have I forgotten anything?

The usual questions you should ask yourself  before setting off... We'll  help you to organise your suitcase!


The following list is full of useful points that are to be considered to be sure your language holiday at our Italian language school runs smoothly. We, the team of the Piccola Università Italiana wishes you  "happy packing":

 

1. Things to consider before setting off for your language holiday in Italy


  • Check the validity of your passport or your identification card
  • Apply for a Visa at the Embassy or Consulate (for non EU students)
  • Check your health and accident insurance
  • Change money
  • Make a copy of your passport/identification card and insurance papers
  • Organise your personal everyday business (paying of bills etc..)
  • Organise the forwarding of your mail to our school in your name
  • Plan your journey, travel guide, information about the town and the country
  • Cancel temporarily any subscriptions possible (bus tickets, train tickets, magazines etc..)
  • Subscribed newspapers and magazines can be forwarded to the school address
  • Check the validity of your driving licence (if you want to rent a car)
  • Organise someone to look after your home in your absence, to water your plants etc..
  • Get informed about the weather in Tropea at the time of your holiday

2. This goes into your suitcase

  • Underwear
  • Tights/Pantyhose
  • Warm clothing/Summer clothing depending on time of year
  • Rainwear
  • Trousers, shorts, skirts,dresses
  • T-shirts, tops, sweaters, shirts
  • Sportswear
  • Evening wear
  • Pyjamas
  • Swimwear/beach towel,depending on time of year
  • Shoes
  • Hairdryer
  • Bathtowel and bathrobe
  • Mobile phone charger, electrical gadgets, batteries,mains adapter
  • Adapter (plug)
  • Video camera/camera plus charger
  • Books
  • MP3 player
  • Pens, paper
  • Italian dictionary

3. This goes into your hand luggage

  • Plane, train or bus ticket
  • Passport or identification card
  • Language school confirmation with information about procedure upon arrival
  • Cash and credit cards
  • Medication for the journey
  • Mobile phone and charger
  • Book, MP3 Player
  • Address book
  • Sunglasses/reading glasses

 

4. This goes into your toilet bag (with first aid pack)

  • Painkillers
  • Headache tablets
  • Medication for stomach aches and upsets, diarrhoea
  • Suncream and after-sun cream
  • Sickness tablets
  • Personal medication
  • Bandages, plasters
  • Mosquito/fly repellent
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Razor ,etc..
  • Body lotion
  • Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner

 

5. Last check before setting off on your language trip to Italy

  • Remove all plugs from electrical sockets
  • Empty rubbish bins
  • Water plants
  • Heating
  • Switch off water and gas
  • Empty the refrigerator
  • Close all windows and doors
  • Lock all doors to your home
  • Leave a key with a person of trust
