Piccola Università Italiana - The Italian language school by the sea
During a language holiday in Tropea at the Piccola Universita Italiana you don't only encounter the Italian language in the classroom. In Tropea you experience the Italian language through „Dolce Vita" in the cafes and bars in the old town of Tropea, while strolling on the "Corso", at the quaint market where daily fresh fish, crunchy vegetables and juicy fruits of the season are on offer. You can delve into the language and lifestyle and culture of the country by means of encountering the local people.
These encounters, more often than not, happen whilst out participating in a leisure time or cultural activity. We want to encourage the students of our language school in Italy to use the Italian language freely and actively outside the classroom. This is the secret to success when learning a new language. Taking part in the organised leisure time activities and excursions, which of course are carried out in Italian, enables the students of our Italian language school in Tropea to increase their vocabulary in an easy going manner and to help them tune into the Italian language and develop a better feel for the language hands on.
Alongside the many organised activities at the Italian language school in summer, the immediate surroundings of Tropea invite you to bathe in the crystal clear water. In the somewhat cooler months the beaches are ideal for walks and to just relax and unwind. Tropea's white sandy beach is within 5 minutes walking distance of the school.
The so called Costa degli Dei, the coast of the Gods is not far away, down south towards Capo Vaticano and up north towards Parghelia await beautiful, peaceful, sandy bays kissed by crystal clear water. A motorboat trip to the white sandy beaches along the enchanting coastline or a one day tour to the Aeolian islands on a mini cruise boat are a must for anyone taking a language holiday in Tropea. Of course we would be happy to organise these trips for our students at the Piccola Universita Italiana.
On warm summer evenings the local bars and Gelaterias in Tropea invite you to experience some „Dolce Vita" with real Italian Gelato or refreshing cocktails.
The familiar ambience at our language school is sustained in leisure time too. A few times a week we organise social activities, parties or group dinners.
Tropea has a lot to offer sports enthusiasts. Tropea is an Eldorado for fans of water sports but also tennis players and golfers will find a lot on offer here too.
Picturesque villages, orchards and olive groves invite to mountain bike tours and hikes in the nearby surroundings, there are lots of sights to be seen. The Italian language school has a limited number of bicycles which can be borrowed free of charge. Those who would like to go off road in the surroundings can also be provided with professional rental bikes by the school.
For students interested in culture we organise a variety of cultural excursions which are carried out in the school's own Mercedes minibus. these excursions take you along the coast or go inland to eg: the hillside town of Gerace, to the Aspromonte national park, to Sicily and even to Pompei. Tropea is an ideal starting point for dicovery trips in Calabria, Campania and Sicily.
